Author Biography
Karel Černý
Karel Černý, born in 1980, he is a sociologist, and he works at the Department of
Historical Sociology of the Faculty of Humanities at Charles University in
Prague. He deals with theories of social change and the contemporary
Middle East in his research. Thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship (2013) he
completed a research stay at UCLA, where he focused on the integration of
Muslims in America. He published a book titled The World of Political Islam
(2012). He is the principal beneficiary of the GA CR grant which is given to
researchers dealing with the structural causes of the Arab revolutions and
the current political instability in the region.
