Abstract

An unconventional candidate, an unprecedented president? Why did the Americans choose such a controversial figure to lead their country? What were the causes and contexts for the election of Donald Trump as American president and what strategies and topics won him voter support? This book aims to describe and analyze the steps taken by Donald Trump to exploit the cracks in the socioeconomic and cultural cohesion of the American people to win the election. The deeper, contextual understanding and checkerboard of the background of the 2016 election presented in this book make it easier for the Czech reader to understand Trump's actions more deeply than his media portrait flashed.

Author Biography

Michal Himmer

Michal Himmer completed his masterʼs studies in Law and International Relations at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree in International Relations at the same university. His academic interests consist of conf lict resolution, foreign policy motivation, and the PRC in international affairs.
