Author Biography
Eva Fraňková
Born in 1982, she studied biology in České Budějovice (B.Sc.) and humanities-oriented environmental studies (M.A. and Ph.D.) in Brno. During her studies, she gained experience with the operation of community ethical financial institutions in the United Kingdom and explored political ecology, ecological economics, and the activities of the Research and Degrowth group in Barcelona. She is now an assistant professor at the Department of Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno. Currently, her research focuses on material, energy, and financial flows in local food production, the study of Brno’s local non-monetary exchange network (LETS), and the formulation of recognition indicators for social enterprises. She has a long-standing interest in alternative economic practices, local production and consumption, and the concept of sustainable degrowth. She is also active in the emerging Association of Local Food Initiatives and the civic association NaZemi.
