Author Biography

Ladislav Cabada

Born in 1973, he studied Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University and the University of Ljubljana. He works at the Department of Political Science and Humanities at Metropolitan University Prague, where he is also the vice-rector for academic development and the director of the university centre in Pilsen. In 2005, he co-founded an international journal titled Politics in Central Europe, of which he is now the chief editor. In the years 2006-2012, he was the chairman of the Czech Society of Political Sciences, and since 2012, he served as the chairman of the Central European Association of Political Science. He is the emeritus dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (he served as its dean in 2005-2009). In his research, he deals with the comparative politics of Central and Eastern Europe, especially with its political systems, actors and political culture. He authored or co-authored 20 books and more than 100 other professional publications on this topic, with about half of the works being published abroad. His latest contribution is the book Political Parties in East Central Europe, which he co-edited with Vit Hlousek and Peter Jurek, and which was published in January 2014 by Lexington Books.
